OutKast to Reissue Aquemini and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

OutKast are continuing hip-hop’s 50th anniversary celebration by announcing reissues of two of their classic albums, Aquemini and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.

The 3xLP Aquemini 25th Anniversary Multi-Colored Edition is pressed on gold galaxy, cloudy magenta, and cloudy green vinyl. Limited to 2,000 copies, the reissue is housed in a gold foil stamped jacket with a printed lyrics insert, printed inner sleeves, and commemorative OBI. The vinyl will ship in late October, while the album will also be re-released digitally in both Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio.

Meanwhile, the 4xLP 20th anniversary reissue of Speakerboxxx/The Love Below will differentiate between Big Boi and André 3000’s unique aesthetics with a 2xLP “Platinum Chain” colored vinyl for Speakerboxxx and a 2xLP “Pearl” colored vinyl for The Love Below. It will ship at the end of November, but a handful of songs from the double album — “GhettoMusick,” “Unhappy,” “She Lives in My Lap,” and “Roses” — are available in Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio now.

Pre-orders are ongoing for both reissues. Vinyl Me, Please is also offering a bundle of OutKast’s 1994 debut, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, and 2000’s Stankonia. Grab it here.

To further mark the occasion, OutKast have shared a brand new animated video for the Aquemini cut “SpottieOttieDopaliscious” directed by OK Motion Club. Watch that below, followed by the newly released HD version of the “Rosa Parks” video.

Released as OutKast’s third studio album in September 1998, Aquemini debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and cemented their status as one of the greatest hip-hop duos of all time with songs like the Grammy-nominated “Rosa Parks” and “Da Art of Storytellin’ (Pt. 1).” Speakerboxxx/The Love Below arrived five years later, packaging together solo albums from each group member. It spawned one No. 1 single from each artist: André 3000 topped the Hot 100 with the ubiquitous “Hey Ya!,” while Big Boi did the same with “The Way You Move.”

In 2021, OutKast reissued their star-making sophomore album, ATLiens, for its 25th anniversary, which came after a 20th anniversary reissue of Stankonia. See where the latter album landed on our list of best hip-hop albums of all time, and check out all of our Hip-Hop 50 coverage here.
