Miley Cyrus Performs “Flowers” Live for the First Time at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont: Watch
Believe it or not, Miley Cyrus had never performed her smash hit “Flowers” publicly until last week, when she sang the tune during a pre-Thanksgiving party at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont.
Although, naturally, eyewitnesses were quick to share clips of the gig to social media, Cyrus shared a full video of her “Flowers” debut on Instagram Wednesday night (November 29th). She took full advantage of the noir atmosphere with a stripped-down, jazz-ified version of the song, singing solo with only a piano to back her up.
But just because Cyrus brought out the glitz and glamour doesn’t mean the performance felt uptight. She threw in plenty of ad-lib — like a celebratory “I’m in Dolce!” — an encouraged audience participation. It sounds great, and more importantly, it looked like she had a lot of fun.
“My birthday gift to MYSELF this year was VERY on brand,” Cyrus, who celebrated her 31st birthday on November 23rd, elaborated in a separate Instagram post. “I performed for MYSELF and sang my favorite songs including my own. First ‘live’ performance of Flowers was to an audience full of my friends and family. Taking this song back to the seed… she sprouted sensationally.”

Spotify just revealed earlier this week that “Flowers” was its most-streamed song globally during 2023. Although we likely won’t be getting a tour from her anytime soon, she has been spending time in the studio, sharing the single “Used to Be Young” in August and duetting a new version of “Wrecking Ball” with Dolly Parton in October.
