The 95th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, will honor the best movies of 2022, with awards across more than 20 categories. The 2023 Oscars ceremony will air live on March 12 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Jimmy Kimmel will host the Oscars, marking the comedian’s third time presenting the show. The 2023 event will also include performances for several of this year’s best original song nominees, including Rihanna singing “Lift Me Up,” and David Byrne, Son Lux, and Stephanie Hsu performing “This Is a Life.”

Everything Everywhere All at Once” leads the 2023 Oscars with 11 nominations, including best picture, best director (the Daniels), and best actress (Michelle Yeoh). The A24 movie is followed by Netflix’s “All Quiet on the Western Front” and the tragicomedy “The Banshees of Inisherin” with nine nominations each.

If you’re looking to tune into the Academy Awards on March 12 to see which movie takes home the top prize, you’ve got a few different options. Here’s a rundown of all the ways you can watch and stream the 2023 Oscars live.

How to watch the 2023 Oscars

You can watch the 2023 Oscars live on March 12 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC. The ABC network is available via cable, antenna, and several live TV streaming services, including Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and FuboTV.

Viewers who already have access to ABC though a pay-TV provider can log in with their account info to stream the Oscars via the ABC app or ABC website. If you don’t already have access to ABC through cable or broadcast TV, the cheapest way to stream the Oscars is through Sling TV.

Sling’s Blue plan ($45/month) includes access to ABC in Chicago, Fresno, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Raleigh-Durham, and Houston. New members can get their first month of streaming for 50% off

Unfortunately, if you live outside those major market areas, ABC is not included with your Sling membership. To get streaming access to ABC and the Oscars in other areas across the US, we recommend YouTube TV ($65/month), FuboTV ($70/month), and Hulu + Live TV ($70/month). Though more expensive than Sling, these services support ABC in more cities, and they provide larger channel lineups.

Apps for live TV streaming services are supported on most mobile devices, smart TVs, and media players from major brands like Chromecast, Fire TV, Roku, and Apple TV.

Can I watch the Oscars for free?

You can watch the Oscars for free with a live TV streaming service trial or via over-the-air broadcast TV.

Sling TV and Hulu + Live TV no longer offer free trials, but YouTube TV includes a two-week free trial for new subscribers and FuboTV has a one-week trial for new members. Just remember, after your trial ends you’ll be charged the full monthly fee unless you cancel.

You can also watch the 2023 Oscars for free on ABC with a digital TV antenna if you have broadcast reception to your local ABC station in your area.

How to watch the 2023 Oscars securely outside the US

If you’re outside the US, you might be in a location that doesn’t have streaming access to the Oscars. A simple way to stream the event when traveling outside the US is through a virtual private network (VPN). A VPN will ensure you can access your Sling TV, FuboTV, or YouTube TV account and watch the Oscars no matter where you are, while also establishing a more secure connection.

If you’re looking for the best VPN, we recommend using NordVPN or ExpressVPN. Both services allow you to access Sling TV, FuboTV, or YouTube TV by connecting to servers within the US. NordVPN starts at $12 a month, while ExpressVPN starts at $13 a month. Both provide discounted pricing with an annual plan, and members get a 30-day money-back guarantee.

ExpressVPN Plan

With its consistent performance and reliable security, ExpressVPN is the best VPN out there, excelling in every spec and offering many advanced features that makes it exceptional.

NordVPN Plan

NordVPN is one of the top VPN services you can sign up for. Though ExpressVPN delivers slightly better overall performance, Nord has an edge with its lower price.
