GPU Audio have announced the launch of the IR Creation Competition. Entrants are being invited to create their own impulse responses, with the company offering over $6000 in prizes for the most creative and innovative entires.

Those who wish to enter the competition can first sign up for an account on the GPU Audio website, where an Asset Pack is available for download. They can then create an impulse response using any hardware or software system, and use it to process the sounds found in the GPU Audio Asset Pack. Once created, the results must be uploaded to YouTube with the hashtag #GPUAudioIR. The impulse response file, a description of how it was made, and a link to the YouTube video can then be sent to ircompetition@braingines.com

For those looking for a software package to create their impulse responses, GPU Audio have recommended Voxengo Deconvolver for Windows users, and WaveArts MLSTool for those using Mac computers.

Prizes will be shared amongst one Grand Prize winner, two Second Place winners, and three runners up. Prizes up for grabs in the competition include:
