Elon Musk Complains Males in The Rings of Power Aren’t “Brave, Smart, and Nice”
Elon Musk is a notorious troll, perhaps even part orc, but when it comes to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, he’s unsurprisingly concerned about men.
“Tolkien is turning in his grave,” Musk wrote September 5th on Twitter. “Almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both. Only Galadriel is brave, smart, and nice.”
Of course, given Musk’s penchant for viciously silencing his critics, as well as his persistent transphobia, you might very well wonder if the Tesla founder could recognize “brave, smart, and nice,” if he saw it. Besides, one heroic character is a fairly standard number of heroes for tentpole television, though Musk doesn’t seem to think it counts if that hero doesn’t also have a penis.
He joins a chorus of bad-faith complaints about the state of television generally and The Rings of Power specifically. The series has faced a racist backlash from some of the worst quarters of the internet. This is just Musk’s latest detour into impenetrable cultural criticism; in April of this year, he complained that, “The woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable.”
Elsewhere in the Muskyverse, the world’s richest man is still trying to find a way out of his agreement to purchase Twitter. Last week, he added a whistleblower complaint to the notice of termination. The first date in court has been set for October 17th.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power debuted on Prime Video on September 1st. Revisit our review.
