Dua Lipa Is a Femme Fatale Spy in Trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle: Watch
In the new trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s spy thriller Argylle, Dua Lipa gives a provocative preview into her portrayal of a femme fatale spy. Watch the full-length clip below ahead of the film’s theatrical release on February 2nd, 2024.
The trailer opens with Lipa gaining the upper hand against the titular spy (Henry Cavill) after a seductive dance sequence — only for him to make a daring escape with the help of John Cena. As it turns out, this scenario is straight out of an espionage novel written by best-selling author Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), who most enjoys chilling at home with her cat, Alfie.
It’s not too long before Conway’s imaginary world and reality begin to mix. “When the plots of Elly’s fictional books — which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate — begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past,” reads the official logline. “Accompanied by Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.”
Directed by Vaughn off a script written by Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman), Argylle also features Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Sofia Boutella, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Earlier this year, Lipa made her acting debut as Mermaid Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. She also contributed Song of the Week “Dance the Night” to the film’s pop mixtape of a soundtrack. Meanwhile, Cavill is coming off his final season as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, and Howard starred in Jurassic World Dominion last year. Vaughn’s last film was The King’s Man.
