  • DAZN will broadcast the pay-per-view event; the main card costs $85 for new subscribers.

Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin will meet in a super middleweight title fight on September 17, with Alvarez defending the unified WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO belts. This will mark the third fight between the two champion boxers; their last bout ended with Alvarez winning by majority decision in a middleweight contest.

Through 44 career fights, the 40-year-old Golovkin’s only career loss and draw have come against Alvarez. He’s won four fights since losing to Alvarez in 2018 and currently holds the WBA, IBF, and IBO middleweight titles. Golovkin is celebrated for his power, recording 37 career knockouts. He’ll move up to the super middleweight class for the first time to fight Alvarez once more.

Canelo will attempt to rebound from a loss to WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in May. The fight against Bivol was just the second loss of Canelo’s career, ending a streak of eight consecutive victories. Canelo unified the four super middleweight titles with a knockout win over Caleb Plant in November 2021 before moving up to light heavyweight to challenge Bivol.
