50 Cent Turned Down $3 Million to Perform at Trump’s Madison Square Garden Rally

50 Cent famously is going to get rich or die tryin’ — that is, unless it’s rapping at a Donald Trump rally, as the artist says he turned down a $3 million offer to perform at Trump’s event at Madison Square Garden on Sunday (October 27th).

As reported by Variety, the veteran hip-hop figure addressed rumors that Trump’s team offered him money for an endorsement while on “The Breakfast Club.” 50 explained he had indeed received a call with a very lucrative offer to perform at Trump’s Sunday rally. He also confirmed that he was asked to perform at the Republican National Convention as well.

50 turned down both offers, however, explaining his hesitance to throw his hat in the political ring. “I’m afraid about politics, you understand? I do not like no part about them… It’s because when you do get involved in it, no matter how you feel, someone passionately disagrees with you,” he said. “That’s the formula for the confusion that sent Kanye to Japan. He said something about both of those things — and now he can only go to Japan.”

Trump and 50’s relationship has been up and down in recent years. The rapper briefly endorsed Trump prior to the 2020 election, then backed off after ex-girlfriend Chelsea Handler admonished him. Then, as stated by 50 in the radio appearance, he was in talks to perform his classic song “Many Men” at the RNC — a reference to Trump getting shot. No such appearance ever came to fruition, however, and as he and “The Breakfast Club” hosts joked, he’s learned, “No gangbanging and no politics!”

Though bad for his bank account, it’s likely a good thing 50 ultimately stayed away from the Madison Square Garden event. Outside of additional cringe-worthy moments from Elon Musk, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe (also known as Kill Tony) spewed jokes so racist that even Trump’s team felt compelled to apologize. As Consequence’s own Alex Young writes, the incident could very well be 2024’s “October surprise.”
