Ministry Announce New Album, Unleash “Goddamn White Trash”: Stream

Ministry have announced their 16th studio album, HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES, due March 1st, 2024. In advance of the LP, the industrial legends have offered up the video for lead single “Goddamn White Trash” featuring Pepper Keenan of Corrosion of Conformity.

In line with frontman Al Jourgensen’s M.O. as of late, HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES looks to be another politically-charged rampage. The song titles say it all: “Just Stop Oil,” “Aryan Embarrassment,” etc.

“Just like you or anybody else, I’m simply a passenger in this lifetime,” commented Jourgensen in a press release. “I’m watching social changes, political changes, and economic changes, and I comment on them because I do have a First Amendment right. A lot of people say artists and athletes should shut up and play ball. No, I’m on this trip too.”

He continued, “If I see something, I say something. That reflects on where each album goes. Instead of staying sedentary and singing about broken relationships, inner turmoil, or whatever is hurting this week, I comment on what’s going on from the perspective of a fellow passenger.”

Speaking of fellow passengers, Jourgensen tapped a few of his musical comrades to guest on the album, including Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra (a cohort of Jourgensen’s in Lard), Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hütz, and Keenan, who adds his skillful axework to “Goddamn White Trash” — a raucous introduction to the LP.

Perhaps fans will get an early dose of HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES when Ministry hit the road next Thursday (August 24th) with Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, and Filter. You can get tickets to those shows here.

Last month, Ministry were prominently featured during Consequence’s Industrial Week, with the band landing multiple entries in our Best Industrial Albums and Best Industrial Songs lists. Moreover, Jourgensen provided us with an exclusive list of 10 industrial albums he thinks every music fan should own.
