John Carpenter Reimagines Escape from New York Theme “69th St. Bridge”: Stream

John Carpenter has unleashed the latest film score reimagining from his upcoming album Anthology II (Movie Themes 1976-1988) with “69th St. Bridge” from 1981’s Escape from New York.

The composition memorably soundtracks a thrilling car chase sequence from the dystopian, Kurt Russell-starring action movie, which was co-written, directed, and scored by Carpenter. However, the new reworking still manages to squeeze even more tension into the mix with help from Carpenter’s go-to collaborators, his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies. Stream “69th St. Bridge” below.

Anthology II arrives on October 6th via Sacred Bones Records and features new takes on Carpenter’s music from films such as The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, and They Live. In August, he shared the collection’s opening track, “Chariots of Pumpkins” from 1982’s Halloween III. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Carpenter’s first Anthology project dropped in 2017.
