Hertz Drums from Hertz Instruments is the first product to be released by recording studio co-owners Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawski, and has been produced in a collaboration with musician and software developer Alex Yashchanka. Whilst working on a recording session together, the trio decided to combine their collective music, recording and technical expertise to create a flexible and intuitive virtual drum instrument.

The product range consists of two sample players, Hertz Drums and Hertz Drums Lite, a selection of Drum Packs which each contain a different sampled drum kit and a collection of 1560 MIDI grooves. All of the drum sounds and grooves provided have been captured at the Wieslawski brothers’ Hertz Recording Studios, and promise to deliver an authentic sound that will surpass the expectations of even the most demanding users.

A range of drums are included in each pack, with users able to build their own kits, choose from a selection of presets based on musical genre, or even import their own samples. Three different microphone selections are available for each instrument, and the sound of the samples can be tailored thanks to a set of independent ADSR envelopes. A Humanize button helps to ensure that programmed parts deliver a realistic sound, and separate control over articulations is provided for both right and left hands.

The included grooves have all been performed by world-class drummers, and are organised into Intro, Main Beats, Outros and Fills categories for easy browsing and selection. For those looking for grooves that stray a little further from the ordinary, the company offer a Péter Somos MIDI Grooves add-on, which contains a total of 520 grooves in time signatures such as 5/4, 7/4, 8/4, 9/4, 10/4, 11/8 and 19/16.

Compatibility

Hertz Drums is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and higher. VST, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
