AES source separation webinar
The Audio Engineering Society UK Section have announced an upcoming online lecture titled Whither Blind Source Separation?
The ability to isolate multiple sources within a soundfield using nothing but the received audio has been perceived to be the next big thing in audio processing for a number of years, with numerous potential applications existing in areas such as broadcasting, hearing assistance, communications, voice control, speech-to-text software, and surveillance. This non-technical presentation will outline three possible uses of blind source separation, before asking the question: Is the day of blind source separation yet to come?
The talk will be given by SOS author Gordon Reid, who helped to found CEDAR Audio in 1989 and has presented numerous papers and workshops in the fields of audio restoration, noise suppression, and forensic audio investigation over the past 34 years.
The lecture will take place on 21 February 2023 at 19:00 GMT. It is free and open to all, however those interested will need to register for their place via the link below.
